I'm going to keep one of these in mind if I ever move into a desert area. Although I'm not going to buy one of these pieces of junk, I'm going to buy something that's actually built better, has replaceable filters, and is advertised as a swamp cooler/humidifier. Extremely low humidity (10-20%) is very bad for electronics.

Good video. Explained well. In the Middle East they are known as desert coolers and work well in dry air. It’s nice to get a bit of humidity in very dry places.

The weirdness of which you speak is a temporal compression artefact. The motion of the water goes against the motion of the camera so the encoder doesn't know how to deal with it and opts to preserve finer details rather than the blurry background.

Back in the late 1970's I worked for Control Data Corp's Magnetic Peripherials Inc. Philips of Enihoven, NL was transferring the manufacturing buildup in Santa Clara, CA and Colorado Springs, CO. I was part of the tech writing team, documenting engineering gibberish to plain english. The fun part was correlating the optical engineer's english to electronic engineer's english. Simple function as focus/not focus optical dutch english. It seems, never the twain shall meet. Matter of fact, one of my team compiled a dictionary of terms in order to develop in index of the documents. There;s a widely circulated, generic picture of a media hole (crater) that I developed. Mein, gott, that was 40 years ago!!

It's interesting - the RGB world; I can also have brown now w/ orange & black. Before, I was only familiar w/ the old RYB where primaries & their complementary secondaries produce brown (in paints, that is) - like red & green makes brown, yellow & violet makes brown, blue & orange makes brown; & other tertiaries that are also opposite each other in the old RYB color wheel makes brown. Colored lighting concepts brought a new ..light.

Not surprised you didn't like the percolated coffee the way you prepped it. The water should be added cold, the coffee needs a fine grind, you should add a paper filter, and most importantly, the water should never come to a rolling boil. Good percolated coffee can't be rushed.

I think it's a bit misleading to say that we have 90% of the power we need... Obviously, that's just for commuting. We use way more power just living in our homes, so rather than just talking about how wind energy provides for a good majority of our commuting needs, let's talk about how much of our total energy usage it covers instead.

So its a 2-phase system, with combined (between 2 phases) voltage 207 volts... This way, we have in Europe system 230/400V. BTW, there used to be 220V systems in part of Europe, and other parts had 240V, and novadays these have been unified at 230V (using stricter tolerances, it is compatible with both previous), so please forget 240 volts anymore... its like 20 years old.

The biggest reason why these became popular is because HOA's dont allow window units. And in my opinion the biggest problem is the condensation build up collects at the bottom and high humidity can cause them to plume with mold and mildew all the way up to the vent that expels cold air into the room, EVEN IF ITS A DOUBLE TUBE. burn all of these stupid machines with Greek fire and #AbolishHOA

Ecobee can do that. If I manually lower the temperature it will go back to the setpoint after a certain period of time. You can change the interval at which it automatically restores the setpoint. Also it's not that fancy to have an inverter based AC now that has variable speeds allowing it to potentially run nonstop with a low amoutn of cooling to work more like a dehumidifier slowly pulling the water from the air.
